Background
The project focused on enhancing the user experience of a government digital tax service by simplifying access to and understanding of complex tax regulations. As part of a cross-functional team, the initiative aimed to modernize and humanize the service through iterative design and development, ensuring the solution met both user needs and government digital service (GDS) standards, with a strong emphasis on accessibility and inclusivity.
Problems to solve
-
Complex Regulations: Users struggled to understand and navigate tax-related content due to the complexity and technical nature of regulations.
-
Technical Constraints: Ensuring designs were feasible within the existing technical infrastructure required close collaboration with developers.
-
Accessibility Gaps: The existing service lacked full accessibility compliance, creating barriers for users with diverse needs.
-
Fragmented Collaboration: Aligning input from multiple stakeholders while maintaining a consistent, user-centered approach was a challenge.
Goal
To design an accessible, user-friendly tax service interface that simplifies complex information, supports diverse user needs, and adheres to GDS standards—achieving a balance between usability, technical feasibility, and inclusivity through iterative, research-informed design.
